Grand Power Ltd (Slovakia) development: a gas pistol cal. 10x22 with a possibility of shooting by traumatic cartridges Grand Power T10.

T10 represents new generation of the weapon for self-defense. It is light, well balanced and high-precision. On quality of manufacturing and the materials used it has not equal both among domestic, and import samples of the weapon of the self-defense, presented now in the Russian weapon market.

Grand Power, s.r.o., registered in Banska Bistrica town in Slovakia, was founded on May, 2002. Its President and the Chief Designer - Jaroslav Stanislavovich Kuracina - has started to study designing of the weapon in 1989 in Military Academy in Brno, Czech Republic. Then served as the officer-gunmaker in Slovak army till 1996. That's why he knows well Russian and till now cordial remember those times of the Warsaw contract when brothers-Slavs were its comrades in arms.

All this time Jaroslav has been working on creation of his own pistol. In 1994 there were first sketches of a design of a pistol, in 1996 the patent for a design of a pistol was received, and in 2002 Mr. Kuracina founded Grand Power and has started manufacture of K100.

K100 has won huge popularity, stood the most severe tests, it has been accepted on arms of Slovak army and police; besides it is widely used in various special divisions, and also sportsmen - by marksmen of IPSC, IDPA leagues. Now it is bought more than ten countries from different continents.

 
 
Tests.

Excellent qualities of the weapon are a result of a unique design of locking system which is based on rotation of the barrel conducted by a perpendicular protuberance in a frame. This design is protected by the international patent. The barrel of the weapon with the turned operating groove during unlocking-lock-out at shooting has no vertical moving, it only revolve there-here on 42 degrees on its axis, following the form of an operating groove and a protuberance of a frame. Such decision does not have the constructive excesses similar to protuberance in Mauser M2 or such parts of a design as the locking cam in Beretta Cougar which at dirtying or mechanical deterioration causes failures and consequently is unreliable. On the contrary, at an operating condition of pistol K100 there is a self-cleaning of active contact area during unlocking. This feature guarantees to the weapon high reliability at shooting even if the internal mechanism is dirtied owing to insufficient maintenance or conditions of operation, use of poor-quality or improper gunpowders.

In 2006 there was more compact updating of K100 which has received designation P1. The slide and barrel P1 - is shorter, that does the weapon more compact in comparison with the standard size, at the same capacity of magazine and convenient handle. The total length of standard model - 202,5 mm, and compact model - 187,5 mm. The height without magazine - 133,5 mm, and the form of facets of a slide is convenient for correct pointing during an intuitive aiming. The maximal width of a frame - 35 mm, and the handle thickness - 29 mm. The weapon, having kept high capacity double-row magazine, also is suitable for marksmen with a small palm.



On the basis of model P1 Mr. Kuracina also has created a gas pistol with a possibility of shooting by traumatic cartridges specially for the Russian market. The pistol has received factory designation T10. This weapon has very unusual history of creation. For the first time in the world the designer of the weapon for self-defense was working in close contact to the Russian consumers of a complete product - the most usual ordinary buyers. Since March, 2007 when the designer has addressed to the future buyers on the largest Russian Internet-forum on weapon subjects, has passed only some months, but whatever... Older readers, probably, remember stories with the continuation, published in newspapers and magazines which were written gradually, on the basis of letters from some participants, under the general edition of known writers. And here: for short time precedent joint 'creation ' a specific product - the present weapon has been created.

T10 - the weapon working due to recoil of a free slide, the scheme of work it is different from fighting P1 because of other type of ammunition. The main advantages of the pistol T10 - high accuracy, durability and reliability - are inherited from a primogenitor. The pistol has extremely comfortable recoil that allows to conduct aim fire high-speed series on 2-3 shots.

The up-to-date constructions materials are used in the pistol, which allows reduce weigh of the pistol considerably. An ergonomic form framing on which slide moved during shooting are placed in a plastic frame (polyamide GF30) and also strike-trigger mechanism. A recoil spring rod, safety device, trigger and safety staple of the trigger are also made of plastic. Metal details are processed on Tenifer QPQ technology which gives the weapon evenness of work, the best stability to deterioration, greater durability and good resistibility to become rusty. Process consists of nitrocarburizing, oxidation cooling and combinations of polishing and oxidation. The slide is made of qualitative chrome-nickel-molybdenic foundry, same, as on models Glock from the Belgian supplier FN Herstal, however tempered up to great values of hardness approximately 40-42 HRC and subjected then to cementation, oxidation and nitration on Tenifer QPQ technology up to values 750 HV. All details of a pistol are made with the highest accuracy.

All controls a pistol - two-sided, are adapted both for the right-handed person, and for the lefthander, including a safety device, removal of slide from a slide stop and the button of releasing of magazine. A handle is very ergonomic, it is made of the polyamide GRAM-FORCE 30 reinforced by steel to create an light and strong design. A coarse-grained surface and hollows improve holding of the arm even with humid hands. The trigger mechanism - ordinary double/single action, and length of pressing of repeated trigger is astonishing small, that does T10 very fast for the following behind the first shots in a series. A magazine with a plastic heel - on 10 shots by cartridges cal. 10x22T. New frame Mk6 with the improved incision and the modified ergonomics handle does a pistol more adapted for all types of a palm. Universal tactical lath MIL 1913 Picatinny on which it is possible fasten a small lamp, laseraim or other equipment, is insert in a forward bottom part of a frame. The pistol adjusts fire at a factory on a distance in 10 m so the centre of impack corresponds to a point of aiming. Correction can be across made by displacement of a rear sight and then its fixing. Correction on a vertical is carried out by replacement of a rear sight higher or lower.

T10 shows good results at instinctive shooting due to the successful form of the handle, its angulations, the form safety staple of the trigger and the form of the frame. Whether it is necessary to mark especially, how much it is important in real situations of self-defense...

Assembly-disassembly of T10 practically is completely similar to corresponding operations for fighting К100 or P1, except for removal of a barrel. Incomplete disassembly: to take out magazine from a pistol and to be convinced, that in a cartridge-chamber there is no cartridge (1). To weigh down the safety staple of the trigger (2). Keeping staple below to take aside a slide back (3). Then to pull a slide up, deducing it from its leading grooves on a frame and to remove its advance (4). Procedure of assembly is carried out in return sequence.

On quality of manufacturing and the materials used, it has not equaled both among domestic, and import samples of the weapon for self-defense, presented now in the Russian weapon market. At its creation computer designing was widely used, and manufacture is organized on the basis of the machine processing centers with CNC model Hyundai from KOPS Limited and own 5-coordinate submachine gun of model Hermle 600 U. At present in manufacture 5 processing centers with CNC are involved, quality of production corresponds to ISO 9001/2000.

The pistol has also necessary differences from fighting sample P1 to meet the requirements of the Russian Law on the weapon, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Health - in the form of special ledges (pins) inside of the channel of the barrel, the milled grooves on a barrel and a cartridge-chamber, the barrel is nonremovable.

For pistols Grand Power there are a wide range of accessories by means of which it is possible to make the sample more convenient for any specific purposes: sports aim adaptations, down to completely micrometric rear sights and the front sights, special holsters, details of non-standard external execution and many other things.
